4/5 Stars R. Sivey says: I bought this toy after Christmas for my 3 1/2 year old, and my only regret is not making this his "Big Santa Present," because it's by far his favorite toy!

The 4 desktop games included have 2 levels. I haven't toyed with the 2nd level of them yet, but my son has already figured out how to navigate the computer, and his mouse skills are improving every day.
A big bonus is the mouse, which can be switched from the right to the left of the computer. He is left-handed, and it's nice to have a toy that is flexible. The QWERTY keyboard is also a plus.

This isn't the most educational toy ever, but it's teaching him basic computer navigation, and reinforcing his number and letter recognition. It also keeps him entertained while I'm taking my online classes, which is worth so much more than it's price tag!

We have not experienced any difficulty with the mouse sticking, except when the batteries were low. I would recommend using rechargeable batteries, they seem to last longer (at least, the digital camera-strength rechargeables do!), and are more cost effective (not to mention better for the planet we are leaving to our children!).

A lot of people have recommended using internet sites or learning software instead, and those are fine solutions, if you can spare your computer, and it can hold up to a child's use. My own desktop computer is slow, and doesn't keep up with the kids games I've bough for it. My laptop, well, it cost too much for me to let my three year old bang on it!
3/5 Stars Kim Vinson says: I ignored the reviews that commented on the mouse that only worked 1/2 of the time. I was excited to see the box at the door, and my 3 year old was excited to be able to use her "new computer."

What a mistake - If you have a child that tends to be impatient, or expects things to work the right way (doesn't everyone!?) don't waste your money. The idea is great, but the mouse (which you have to use for more than 1/2 the games) really does only work 1/2 the time.

My daughter got so frustrated, she refused to continue playing, and was really upset. It made me mad, because I had really looked forward to her having this new toy.

Looking for something that is made better .... hope there is such a thing!
5/5 Stars Randi Hebert says: I bought this for my 3 1/2 yr old twins for Christmas. They absolutely LOVE it. They were able to master the mouse within 1 day and have no troubles at all using it. There is a sensor on the system which picks up from the keyboard so you do have to make sure the keyboard is in a good position, but other than that we have had no issues at all. I did take someone else's suggestion and purchase the adapter plug. They have used this every day for the past week and we have not yet run out of battery power. I highly recommend this purchase for others who want to show their preschoolers how to "learn while having fun"!
4/5 Stars Denali says: My daughter (3) received this game for Christmas. She had already been using our PC and laptop to play internet games. But I wanted something that would teach her the QWERTY keyboard and learn things at the same time. The product offers 2 game levels dependent on your child's age and skill level.

The graphics are not outstanding on the games, but I think it is fine for preschool use. The game console comes with preloaded games. Each time she plays a game, the software "remembers" what level she is at and then it increases the difficulty each time she comes back. The first level of all games are fairly easy but as she gets farther, it gets a little more difficult. She can't play Level 2 on most games yet because they use math concepts and she isn't ready for the addition/subtraction just yet.

We have had no problems described by other reviewers, other than 1 time the mouse icon seemed to not cooperate with directions. As long as you have the keyboard pointed toward the infrared receiver on the console, it will work just fine.

I'm happy that it has gotten her away from using the laptop so much for the internet games only because sometimes she would hit a combination of keys that would lock it up.Although we are very computer savvy, we had a hard time getting it to unlock. Now we don't have to worry about it as much. Plus she doesn't get bombarded with the ads on the webpages.

I highly recommend that you purchase the AC adaptor for the console so you don't have to worry about batteries as much. We've only had the game for a couple of weeks so I don't know how long the batteries will last in the keyboard, but so far we're happy with it.

For the price, I think it is a good value. I think the extra cartridges could be lesser in price.

Overall a good product for children for the this price range.
3/5 Stars Trevor Mcarthur says: I have fallen out of love with this toy. We got it for our very young kids and they still love it BUT, I think they've mastered the highest levels on all the games we have and there is no where for them to go with it. I really wish there was a level 3 and maybe 4 on the games.

This is more a review of the software. The design of the central unit is great, and for kids just at the edge of being able to control a computer it is great. But one of my kids is six and there's no challenge to the games anymore. And with Leapfrog putting out new systems every week I think they are going to move on rather than make better, more challenging games.

If you find one at the right price this is a good system (for a 3 year old I might say it is a 5-star product). But I think you will be disappointed in how it does not grow with the child.
